Pookie Monster

Pookie Monster

Since I have yet to introduce the titty-tat to the online community, here is Pookie Monster in all his glory for the world to see. Thank god for cat nip.

We have had the pleasure of his presence since mid-February, and have discovered he is twice the cat he was described to be. His foster mommy described him as "cuddly," "laid back," "not a talker..."

We should have known that was, in the foster animal world, the kiss of death. Pookie Monster is anything but cuddly, laid-back, and silent.

When I stick my pinky toe out of the bedsheets at 5:30AM, there he is, meowing his head off. And his meow is more like the sound I imagine sea gulls make when they are slowly, painfully dying. It's a high pitched girly-scream.

So long as we feed him right away, the noise reduces in frequency, if not completely.

He also often bites me when I'm petting him, or scratches the living daylights out of my arm if I pick him up. And don't let his size fool you - he's a strong kitty.

My boss told me that the surefire way to get him to stop any of these annoying behaviors - scratching, clawing, hissing, whining - is to squirt him with some water. But Anthony and I are united on that front - you can't punish the kitty for being vocal. That's like hitting a toddler because it peed in its diaper. Not very nice.

So, truth be told, we love him to bits!

We enjoy watching him play pretend, and randomly run out of the room for no reason at all. Occassionally he graces us with his presence on the couch, and rolls over so we can touch his soft, white tummy.

We're still working on our nail-clippings skills, but eventually we will dominate Mr. Monster and trim the edge off of his razor claws.

That, in a nutshell, is our Pookie Monster. Ah, to be in love...

Did you consider the Cat may be in some pain in the stomach area? The scratching could be due to the fact it hurts when picked up by or around the abdomen. And the constant vocalizing may indicate it's not feeling well.

my cat was the same way for years: a super bitch with fur.

She became much nicer after she almost died last year. Too bad it took four years and a brush with death to calm her down.

best of luck!
